MANCHESTER — Manchester United are confident they can make Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers the next Manchester United manager, according to dailystar , reported by Sportsmole, Thursday (11/11). His name is one of the favorites to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer is still retained by United as coach despite calls for him to be released from several fans and former players.

The pressure increased further when United lost to Manchester City 0-2 at Old Trafford recently. He is expected to continue to lead the team against Watford.

Solskjaer’s future is unclear. His position continued to be rocked following MU’s performance which did not improve. Even though they have a squad depth with the addition of three top players last summer namely Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

United are currently in sixth place in the standings, nine points behind leaders Chelsea. Rodgers is claimed to have reached a verbal agreement with the club to become United’s next coach.

The report claims Rodgers would find it difficult to turn down the opportunity to move to Old Trafford. In addition, it is alleged that there is a release clause in his contract which can be activated if the Champions League participating clubs make an approach.

The Northern Irishman started his coaching career with the Chelsea reserves before taking over at Watford, Reading, Swansea City, Liverpool, Celtic and Liecester.

He won 65 games, drew 27 and lost 37 of 129 games with the Foxes. He led the team to the FA Cup title last season and the Community Shield earlier this season.

Besides Rodgers, Antonio Conte is also a favorite name as Manchester United coach before he accepted the proposal of Tottenham Hotspur. He is considered the right coach because he is proven to have presented titles to the team he coached.

Zinedine Zidane and Erik ten Hag are also targets for Manchester United. Zidane is still unemployed after leaving Real Madrid coach. While Ten Hag still serves as coach of Ajax Amsterdam. But both compact refused to become coaches of MU.
