MANCHESTER — Paul Pogba’s future continues to attract attention. The tug on a contract extension between the management of Manchester United and Pogba seems to have yet to come to an agreement.
Pogba, a player who is now ogled by Europe’s elite clubs, doesn’t seem to want to rush to confirm his place to try his luck before his contract at MU expires in 2022. Various speculations continue to be blown by the media.
Citing reports from Tribalfootball, Thursday (11/11), Pogba seems to have changed his mind. Sources close to the player say that he is ready to agree to a contract extension. But the condition is one, Pogba wants to be the highest-paid player in the English Premier League.
The demands mean that the Red Devils have to pay more than 500 thousand pounds per week or more than Rp. 9.5 billion. This value is the same as that received by the current megastar Cristiano Ronaldo .
In another report, quoted from Sky Sports, MU officials are reportedly willing to sell Pogba in January. The signal comes after the France international suffered a thigh muscle injury that could keep him out of action for up to 10 weeks.
However, with Pogba’s contract expiring at the end of this season and no other news yet, there has been speculation that he will continue his career at United. At least, the speculation is reinforced by the desire of Manchester United coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, to keep the 28-year-old player for the rest of the season.
Solskjaer is even willing to let him leave on a free transfer next summer. But if Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are willing to pay a high price in the winter transfer market, then United will consider reducing their losses and releasing Pogba.
Meanwhile, Italian journalist, Rudy Galetti, claims that Pogba has a desire to return to Juventusnext season. Pogba’s contract with United expires in June and it seems increasingly unlikely that he will extend his contract with the 20-times Premier League champions.
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with the 2018 World Cup winner. However, according to Galetti, Madrid is only an alternative club for Pogba who is Juventus as the main target. The 28-year-old spent four years between 2012 and 2016. The
former Le Havre youth player has also reportedly never considered a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) despite claims the French football giants are interested in his services.
“The certainty of the Frenchman is that he will not continue with United and never considered PSG’s options.”
“Manchester offered a contract with a salary package of € 30-32m between the fixed and variable, but she was not interested in the project,” Galetti claims, reported by Sportsmole, Thursday (11/11).
Therefore, there are two plans Galetti asserts that what Pogba will do is return to Turin. But in order for him to be more satisfied, Juventus will have to sell Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot to make room for Pogba in midfield. That would be good for his role and the club’s finances. Pogba is also willing to reduce his salary.
“Plan B – if you can call it that – is Real Madrid. If he doesn’t find an agreement with Juve, the Frenchman will happily go to Real.”
Further citing a report from the Daily Mail,It is reported that Manchester United’s management has drawn a firm line to Pogba in order to immediately confirm his contract, whether to stay or finish. Not only Pogba, the Red Devils management also gave a similar ultimatum to Jesse Lingard. Both of these players have contracts at MU until 2022.
From the Daily Mail report, MU has set a deadline for the two players’ new contracts until the end of this year. According to United, the offer made to Pogba is quite appropriate. Although the value of the new contract is not stated, it is believed that the offer is sufficient to meet the needs of the player.
Apart from the tug of war over the contract extension, the injury that is now facing Pogba can certainly be a stumbling block. At least, the stumbling block to negotiate is asking MU management for a more competitive price. So, what is the puzzle of Pogba’s future in the future?
