 Inter Milan lost 1-0 in the opening match of Group D Champions League 2021–2022 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, Italy, Thursday, September 16, early morning WIB. It happened after Rodrygo Goes scored in the final minutes of the game.

Inter as the host was able to match Madrid’s game with 47 possession and had more chances, namely 5 shots on target, 7 off target and 6 blocked. But nothing was completed perfectly into goals.

Chances after chances were obtained by both teams throughout the match. Some of them were Ivan Perisic’s header which was saved by Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the 19th minute and Dani Carvajal’s strike which was saved by Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic in the 57th minute.

However, only Rodrygo was able to score a goal and even then it only happened after receiving the pull of the new Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga in the 89th minute. There was not much Inter could do when they fell behind at the end of the match, and the 0-1 score lasted until dispersal.

The result of the match makes Madrid perched in second place in Group D standings with a collection of 3 points and +1 goal difference. They had to accept being under the debutant team of Sheriff Tiraspol who won 2-0 over Shakhtar Donetsk.

Meanwhile, Inter who do not have points are entitled to sit in third place because they are ahead on goal difference with Shakhtar Donetsk who will be their next opponent in Ukraine on Tuesday 28 September.
