Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) has a slick record when appearing in Russian Formula 1 (F1). How not, he managed to win two victories and two podiums in the last four series of races at the Sochi Circuit.
The two victories he got occurred in the 2017 and 2020 seasons. That slick record is considered to make Bottas a favorite in Russian Formula 1 this weekend. He can also damage the dominance of the top fight Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing Honda) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes).
Regarding this, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff explained that the Finnish racer has shown a pretty good performance. It can be seen from his performance in Italian Formula 1 a few weeks ago.
“He drives better than ever, as we saw at Monza. There is a calm determination about the current team and business at the end of the season. Fighting for the championship is what we enjoy the most,” he said, quoted from the official Formula 1 website.
Bottas himself is known to be ranked third in Italian F1 after his teammate, Hamilton, failed to finish the race. It happened as a result of a collision incident with Verstappen in the middle of the race .
Even though he failed to be at the forefront, Bottas’ chances of winning a major place in Russian Formula 1 will be even more open. If his performances are consistent, then it is not impossible that he will be a nuisance to Hamilton’s competition with Verstappen.
As is known, in recent weeks, the two top racers are competing hard to prove themselves as the best racers. Not infrequently the two of them collided on the race track.
After both failing in the 2021 Italian Formula 1, now Verstappen and Hamilton are again getting threats to win victory in Russia. Given, the competition for the F1 title does not belong to Verstappen and Hamilton alone.
So far, Bottas has a great chance to win the top spot in the 2021 Formula 1 standings. He is known to have collected 141 points, and is 80 points adrift of Hamilton, in second place, and 85 points from Verstappen.
